Champion TrainingThe implementation of six sigma starts with top management. Management commitment is one of the programs critical success factors. This group establishes the corporate-level goals and targets and determines how the six sigma initiative will initially be focused. A Champion is a member of the management team who is responsible for the logistical and business aspects of the Black Belt program. They link the business objectives to projects selected for the Black Belts. It is the responsibility of the Champion to help identify potential candidates for training and to select projects. In the role of Champion, individuals are also responsible for the performance of the Black Belt candidates. This requires that they monitor performance, project progress, and remove all barriers to successful completion of the project. The session consists of two days of training on what six sigma is and the roles and responsibilities of a Champion. The session provides the champion with the knowledge of how their role supports the efforts of the Black Belt both logistically and organizationally. An additional day is scheduled two weeks following champion class to select projects for the Black Belts to work on during the training. |
